Troubleshooting/Frequently Asked Questions

PW-200 series

System Compatibility

Q: Will the PW-200 work with a Pentium 4 or Athlon system?
A: Yes. We've tested P4s at 3Ghz and it works. You will need the P4-ATX cable with your purchase. Some motherboards are fussy, but a vast majority will work. [How To Solder the P4-ATX]

Q: Can the PW-200 power a Pentium 4 board with a 2Ghz CPU with 1 MB L2 cache, hard drive, and a laptop CD-ROM?
A: Yes, the PW-200 can power this.

Power Source

Q: Does the PW-200 take a 12V input (like from a car), what's the minimum operating voltage, and what kind of connections does it come with?
A: Cars are nasty operating enviroments, so while you may use this power supply in a car, we do not recommend it as it will void your warranty.

If you need a PSU for your verhicle, check out our M1-ATX / M2-ATX / M2-ATX-HV.

Q: Can you suggest a power brick that can support the full output of 200 watts?
A: While this DC-DC can support 200 watts, it is almost impossible to drive this kind of power AT ONCE on all rails with a regular PC. Each rail has its maximum capacity, but you cannot use all rails at the same time at full power.

For example, a Pentium 4 will consume around 100-120 watts total, but you never know which power rail will be peaked.

Q: What kind of adapters are compatible?
A: A 60 Watt 12V, 5A adapter will work with any mini-ITX board with up to 2 HDDs. A more powerful adapter is available also with 6.6A and 8.5A. All three are available in our store.

Miscellaneous

Q: Does the PW-200 come with an ATX output plug?
A: Yes. You can plug the board directly into the motherboard or you can use an ATX extender cable, available in our store.
